"As a junior in high school, I was presented with the opportunity to join the Wall Economic Development Corporation. With my mother's involvement in our community, I thought this would be a great opportunity to step up and do something too! I eagerly filled out the application and before I knew it, I was a high school representative on the board among many other outstanding individuals.
Saying “yes” and deciding to try something new has been the most beneficial experience for me and my young life. Being a part of this corporation has taught me so much about my community and what makes our little town of Wall special. There is so much work being done behind the scenes to improve the quality of life here for me, my friends, family, and community. I have been blessed to take part in many different projects to benefit those around me. By being active on this board it has given me a new perspective and has taught me to appreciate the people working to make changes for the betterment of our community.
In the Fall, I plan to attend college in Sheridan, Wyoming. Here, I will pursue a degree in nursing and continue my education to receive a BSN certification. I will also be a member of the Sheridan Generals rodeo team. After completing my education, I intend to work as a travel nurse to explore new places. While I am excited for my future and seeing the world, I know my home will always be here in Wall, South Dakota" said Sierra.
Wall Economic development awarded Sierra with $500 scholarship for her dedication to the Board.
