Celebrating the Past Year and the New Year

The holidays are far from over for some, as late celebrations trickle in and gift exchanges are scheduled for this month. This time of year is busy as friends and family may still be attending holiday parties. With these upcoming celebrations in mind, we hope that residents of Wall will consider shopping local for food, gifts, and more.

Small Businesses in Wall Appreciate Your Support

Small businesses help spur local economic growth in communities across the U.S. According to recent American Express survey data, two in three small businesses surveyed say the holidays are important to their financial health, primarily in the retail sector, so we’d like to encourage Wall residents to thank them for their contributions to the economy by shopping local at this crucial time.

Instead of heading to the mall for holiday gifts and more, start by shopping local. You will more than likely come across items that you can not find at large scale stores. A casual afternoon of shopping and dining in Downtown Wall is time well spent, and you will surely notice the work of talented local artists on display as you explore.

Black Hills gold jewelry—which is simply jewelry manufactured in the Black Hills of South Dakota—always makes for a tasteful holiday gift and can be purchased in various Wall shops. This unique jewelry dates all the way back to the 1870s when it was created by French goldsmith Henri LeBeau during the Black Hills Gold Rush. It is now South Dakota’s Official State Jewelry.

You can find Black Hills Gold jewelry at Wall Drug. You can’t miss the unmistakable design: grapes, leaves, and vines in delicate green and rose.

You can also find other types of jewelry at Dakota Sky Stone, known best for selling authentic Native-American-made jewelry and turquoise stones. Dakota Sky Stone also sells hair accessories and apparel, both of which make wonderful holiday gifts.

Also, be sure to check out Badlands & Co. for more jewelry options.

Don’t forget that you can also dine in at a local restaurant—such as Badlands Saloon & Grille and Salty Steer—to support local businesses. Be sure to ask about any holiday meal or drink specials.

As the holiday season comes to an end, we hope that Wall residents support small businesses in our community, and even after that. Discover your favorite local mom-and-pop shops, restaurants, and cafes, if you haven’t already. When you visit, you can also find out if they are hosting any upcoming events. Then, share your experiences with friends, family, and acquaintances on social media to help promote these small businesses. What are some of your favorite small businesses in Wall?
